Mindful drinking

Recently, more people become abstinent from alcohol. Actually, in the UK, a fifth are teetotal.

My past entry: One-third of Londoners is teetotaller

Then, pubs are forced to change the strategy for gaining guests. Some bars are storing a variety of non-alcoholic beverages. And surprisingly, there are some services to list them up, such as Club Soda. It calls low alcohol consuming style "mindful drinking."

The Guardian: Forget the hangover, under-25s turn to mindful drinking

To be honest, I cannot drink at all. Therefore, I feel bored whenever visiting a bar. But some restaurants serve cool cocktails without any alcohol. At such a restaurant, I order Sharry Temple, to be satisfied.

Mindful drinking movement is a new trend, especially for young people. I think it includes several meanings. First, a modern consuming style is the superiority of the experience to materials. Young people are fond of spending the time of drinking than drinking alcohol itself. Second, mindfulness means focusing on the presence. Drunkenness is against this concept. Young people tend to favor spirituality. Of course, this trend is somehow associated with the poverty of youth.
