Alcohol related death occupies 5%

The influence of alcohol on human health has been broadly discussed. Not a few people believe regular drinking is beneficial because of its relaxation effect. However, the latest evidence instead suggests its risk for health regardless of the amount of consumption.


According to WHO, alcohol is responsible for up to 5% of the death in the society. A total of three million people drop their lives due to alcohol. Not only alcohol intoxication and hepatitis but also violence and traffic accidents during drunken are included as the cause of the fatality.

By the way, in Japan, the drinking population is gradually shrinking. Young people tend to find pleasures other than drinking. Accordingly, patients with alcohol dependence seem to be decreasing.
