Some athletes of Thailand and Malaysia are banned from Tokyo Olympic games.
Hindustan Times: IWF: Thailand, Malaysia banned from weightlifting at Tokyo Olympics
The International Weightlifting Federation decided to ban Thai Amateur Weightlifting Association (TAWA) and Malaysian Weightlifting Federation (MWF) from participating. Its decision means the athletes belonging to these organization have no right to compete their skills in the coming Tokyo Olympic.
Tokyo Olympic games was postponed by one year due to the novel corona virus pandemic. Nonetheless, the possibility that they can join in the game is still desperate.
The reason of the decision was doping of the athletes, according to the media. Doping is still a major issue in athletes community. I guess there are many suspected athletes who did not take such a trick actually because the modern doping examination has considerable amount of possibility of false positive. On the other hand, it is not surprising that some persons, as well as organizations, and even nations, would like to dope for better record for the reputation and actual benefits.
As far as there are some incentives for doping, similar cases will not be perished. As a physician, doping should not be permitted for its risk to the body. It is a difficult issue to promote healthy and fair competition.
